AJ Scarcella
Editor. Animator. Designer. Maker.
Promotional image and poster for AJ & Isaac, my two-person, long-form improv group. As our format is movie themed, I went with an old-fashioned movie director style for the shoot. I comped the entire shot together and added the CGI prop elements which were textured in Substance. Finally, I designed the poster utilising InDesign, which also includes our branding.
EPiCS is a series of laser-cut MDF boards that are assembled into various structures for fantasy table-top gaming. Created by Isaac Williams, I shot, directed and produced the promotional video for its Kickstarter campaign.
While employed at ASFA, I was responsible for the creative direction of the organisation’s annual national conference. As part of this role, I designed all aspects of the branding for the conference, including the stage layout, video content, printed collateral, website and onsite signage.
This was a quick idea I had to practice combining CGI with studio photography. The photography was done by James McDonald under my art direction.
Working with 3D compositor and retoucher, James McDonald, the Nissan Dualis print ad was an experiment in art direction and layout design based on Nissan’s brand guidelines.
The final ad is composited from multiple elements, including a CGI car and multiple photographic plates for the background. I served as art director for this ad and constructed the layout for the ad itself.
Please note that this ad was made purely for the purpose of demonstration. It is not authorised or connected to Nissan or any company or person related to Nissan.
Photographer Derek Henderson in collaboration with CG artist James McDonald produced this series of landscape images that explored what would happen in a world where technology had been shut off.
Working directly with James, I art directed the CG additions made to each photo – from pitching ideas about the design of the structures to casting a critical eye over their composition with the original photography.
